Let's just say that my Infamous Dishwasher Chicken with Rosemary was not my only success. Unfortunately and despite my best efforts, yesterday's dinner wasn't quite as good as some of my others.

Let's just say that my Infamous Dishwasher Chicken with Rosemary was not my only success. Unfortunately and despite my best efforts, yesterday's dinner wasn't quite as good as some of my others.
I had both Salmon and Sole thawed out in my refridgerator and made the mistake of trying something I never should have done- I used both in the same recipe. This recipe (and a couple of others) claimed that Salmon and Sole make a tantalizing combination. That may be true to some taste buds, but certainly not mine.
I had three Sole Filets and one Salmon Filet, which I cut into three pieces. I then wrapped the Sole Filets around the individual pieces of Salmon in order to bake them. I melted some butter and added lemon juice for a delectable lemon butter combination as a saucy addition to the fish. That, combined with a bit of dill weed was the basis for my meal.
The results were disastrous and I blame the recipe entirely. Salmon and Sole are not a delicious combination- the food looked great after I took it out of the oven, but I believe that each fish tastes best on its own. Granted, I didn't make the creamy sauce the recipe called for, but I have tried lemon with Sole with great success (when combining it with a white wine sauce it's amazing) and 99% of the time I love Salmon.
In my investigations, I couldn't find a specific reason for the lack of success of the recipe- there are a multitude of individual recipes calling for Lemon Butter sauce with either Salmon or Sole. I think the problem may lie solely (sorry for the bad pun- definitely intended) in the fact that two totally different kinds of fish are not necessarily better than one, no matter how delicious the final product may look.
