Bowls for Lunch
Many people are jumping on board the bowls craze. Whether they were introduced via a restaurant like Chipotle or Crazy Bowls and Wraps, or they just want to cut the carbs out of their tacos and burritos, bowls present a great healthy alternative to many dishes. "Aren't bowls just salads?" many people might ask. The answer to that is, of course, sometimes! It depends on what you put in your bowl. If you love spaghetti squash or spiralized zucchini as your base, is it truly a salad?
One of the easiest ways to make a bowl when you're eating fast food, for example, is to order both a salad and the burger or grilled chicken you want, minus the bun. You just add them together to make a delicious meal without the bread. You can play around with all kinds of combinations, like this Mediterranean meatball bowl, or even play around with pre-made bowls at the store. I love broccoli slaw as a bowl base but riced cauliflower works really well, too. Of course, if you're not cutting carbs, you can enjoy rice, noodles and other goodies in your bowl as well.
